We have been working with the Pips for many years now and we can’t recommend them enough. Their training sessions are interactive and original, bringing invaluable experience and advice to our members. Gav is personable and easy to talk to, and his experience of professional radio is wide and varied which makes him a great source of advice and inspiration. He has always been genuinely motivated to help our members and is never afraid to go the extra mile (or 500, when it comes to visiting us!) to give advice and support to anyone wanting a career in radio. Stag Radio. University of Surrey Student Radio Station.

I first met the Pips in my first year of student radio, I had no idea how to structure my demo or what industry bosses looked for. After a session with the Pips, it gave me a boost in confidence and a clear understanding of what programme controllers are looking for. My work was critiqued and I knew exactly what to improve on. A year on and I’ve had meeting with some of the biggest programme controllers in the country and have now landed a presenting job on the BBC Asian Network. Yasser. BBC Radio 1, 1xtra & BBC Asian Network.

The Pips gave me honest and constructive advise that really made me up my game and helped me to focus my skills. They are great to speak to and will speak to you like a person who matters! James Gregory.

The Pips have continually been engaging, enthusiastic and supportive of student and community radio, and from my own personal experience, have provided me with constructive and valuable demo advice. Gav is an absolute pleasure to bump into at conferences and training days, and I highly recommend introducing yourself to pick their well informed brains. Mel Lewis. BBC.

The Pips offer a fantastic service for anyone who is looking to get into radio, regardless of what area of radio you might be interested in. The Pips offer an excellent platform to sell yourself and find out about industry opportunities, and their demo feedback certainly helped me when I was starting out! Michael Blades. Bauer Media.

Gavin from The Pips came to Loughborough for a 2 hour demo and presenting advice session that surpassed all expectations! Our volunteers really appreciated the opportunity to hear about the highs and lows of the industry and how they can improve their chances. The 2 hours were really interactive, informative and flew by. Loughborough Campus Radio will definitely be inviting The Pips back in the future! Matt Peat.

After months of following the Pips on twitter and regularly checking their website, I decided to get them into the station to talk to our members. The talk focussed on structuring demos, the do’s and don’ts and then had their own demos critiqued in front of everyone. While this may have been a little scary for those involved, the talk was fun and interesting. If you want help, I strongly recommend that you call the Pips! Joe Kearney.

Working with The Pips gave me the confidence that I was ready to approach a commercial station. The demo advice, help and even criticism meant that when I did send my demo in, it was tailored and landed me the Sunday night 8-11pm show on Time 106.6FM. Thanks to Gav and everyone at The Pips. Listen to them, they know what they are talking about! Paul Raynor.

The Pips is an amazing service! The feedback I received was so incredibly helpful and I almost certainly believe that the advice I have received has contributed towards where I am today and where I’m heading in the future. I can’t recommend them enough. Glen Scott. Student Radio Awards Best Male Winner 2013.
